Final Thoughts - Corey Smith - 09-04-2019
So, as some of you may have heard, former XWF superstar, and my personal friend, Dexter "The Engineer" Bright recently lost his battle with cancer. And while he wasn't here in the XWF for very long, the mark he left was indelible. So, and with a certain degree of trepidation, I'm asking the people who knew him (or even those who didn't) if they would like to make any parting remarks, tributes, videos, what have you....to say goodbye.
The XWF being what it is, I don't have rose colored glasses on. I imagine some of you will have unkind remarks. Engy's legacy was complicated. But, I know if he were here the last thing he would want would be to censor this.
So, raise a glass (or a middle finger) to The Engineer.
Lux raises a glass of Lux Brand Gender Fluid and pounds it down with a grimace.

There was a time where I may have thought that his tactics where sometimes a little unprofessional, but the truth is, we could all learn a lesson from his legacy in the XWF. So yeah, um... I was planning to slip pretty quietly out the door, but I felt I should say something here before I do.
I'm still learning about the Engineer's career, to be honest. There's a lot I missed over the past few years. You're correct when you say his legacy is a complicated one- even from my limited knowledge, I probably wouldn't have gotten along with the guy. But anyone in this business not named Shane
or Cyren is pretty much a brother or sister in arms in a sense to me, and it's always sad to see one of them fall. I understand he had a son too, and the loss of a parent is devastating enough. He also clearly meant something to you.I hope he rests well and I'm sorry for your loss.

"I wish I could've wrestled The Engineer. I remember when I got here and looked at the Universal Title history, I wondered who the hell he was? And then I learned about the history between him and Robert Main and it motivated me to try and beat him. It's a shame he never got his vengeance for what the former Champ did to him, but based on his passing words, maybe he didn't need it."
